Feliz Navidad 2008

For all of those that did not receive a Christmas card here it is

The night went perfect although Gamila was sick Samia was able to enjoy her night. Very early on she started telling me Santa needed a flashlight since she knew that he would past when it was dark so she could open the presents.

Then she came with the idea that he was going to call her to tell her hello, she drove baba and mami crazy with that idea, so baba had to go outside to make some phone calls (hint hint hint), when all of a sudden the phone rings is Santa it goes like this.

Samia: HI SANTA YOU MY FRIEND

Santa: HOHOHOHO

Samia: YOU BRING ME PRESENTS

Santa: (Speechless)

Samia: I LOVE YOU SANTA BYE BYE

After this I have a running princess happy and wanting to call Abu, to tell her Santa call also when she saw baba she could not stop telling him and is so funny she gets so excited she startles. Finally somebody in Miami pick up the phone her lucky tio Cesar so once again she got to talk about her conversation with Santa and the lucky one was her tio Cesar.

While all of these is going on she is opening the balcony door and screaming out of the top of lungs.

SANTA SANTA SANTA SANTA....It was so hard for her to keep her calm here she is trying to open the presents way way before we could open them up

Before sitting down for dinner mami decided to take a few shots of them around the tree, since I knew in a few minutes there would paper all over the place.

And here she is picking again while mami was getting the table ready

Poor Gamila while all of these was going on she was just to sick to be part of the action she only wanted to be in mami's arms.

So baba told Samia santa has just pass in his carriage and she could open the present. There are no words to explain her facial expression, the happiness, the desired to play with that kitchen, I have to admit after she open her kitchen it was hard for her to understand that there were more presents she just wanted LA COCINA.

I could tell she was so happy while she was opening all those presents some of her phrases were:

"IS AMAZING"

"WONDERFUL"

"SO MANY PRESENTS"

"SANTA PAINT MY CHAIR"

"THANK YOU SANTA"

After putting Gamila to sleep baba and mami decided to build the kitchen we tried to put Samia to sleep but it was impossible she did not want to go to sleep till she got to play with that kitchen. Samia you were so happy with your kitchen that you even pipi while making mami some late night coffee.

Nenas overall it was a beautiful night we enjoy each other, we laugh, we scream, we cried but most important of all we were together. We remember the ones that could not be with us, but we know how much we love them and how much they loved us and Inshallah we will be together next time.

El Nino Dios and Santa have a plan! Ginger Bread Home

So lately I have being debating and truly is only mami the one debating since baba celebrates Christmas because of us, is not something he grew up with. Although I have to admit he is very good with all the festivities and the preparing he is my chef partner to prepare all my Colombian dishes for that day.

So I grew up believing en el Nino Dios. In Colombia there is not such a day as Christmas day that day is to lounge at home recuperating from the night before. I celebrate Christmas Eve marking the birth of Jesus. From the day I can remember we always stayed up till midnight to open all of the presents under the tree that el Nino DIos have brought for us. When we moved to the states I was older and still believe in el Nino Dios but Santa took over El Nino Dios.

The last couple of Christmas Samia has stayed awake with us till midnight....however she was not so aware of what is going on. This year Samia believes in Santa and that he is going to bring her many presents and so forth..so I have being breaking my head deciding how to do this. I have all the presents that Santa has left for us in the the guest bathroom which nobody uses.

So today I decided we were going to make Santa some little gifts and Samia was so much into it she loves to glue so we made a few Christmas ornaments for the tree and we hang them in the tree I told her that Santa is very busy and he has started to drop of gifts and every night he would come and take one of the gifts she did for him and he would start leaving gifts but we she can not open them till El Nino Dios says it is okey.

Here is Samiuta doing her ornaments
Here she is hanging the ornaments she made

I wonder why make up all of these stories, but then I tell myself they are children and are allow to believe and live childhood...

I have also decided that the ornaments that she made as gifts for Santa would be giving to Abuela so she can put in her tree and I know if I give them to Zetu and Guido they would hang them all over the house, like they do with their pictures. Mashallah for such a beautiful family, although I have to admit I being kind of nostalgic lately I miss my Amira. and till this day I just can not believe that she is not around. Que picara es la vida a veces con nosotros nos tira jugadas que nunca nos hubieramos imaginado.
Wahashtiny Habibi!!!\
