Camera Strap tutorial

Today while I was searching Etsy I came across this CAMERA STRAP there just no way I was going to pay $23 for these although I did find some for $15 still I can not justify it when I have a tote full of fabric scraps.

So off I went in my own version, the first thing I wanted to make different was the ends I did not want them to be square I wanted to give the shape of the camera strap ~~~ (now I know why they make them square and you will find out shorty as well)

Here is a short tutorial and by no means I am an expert on doing this my instructions are not too good neither, I have never being good with teaching.

1. Take a piece of paper and make the shape of the camera strap.

2. After add an additional 1/2 to an 1 inch (depends how accurate you are sewing seams I use 1 inch since I am terrible at it)

3. Then cut your fabric using this as your pattern just make sure you fold your fabric so you can get two long pieces

4. Fold the ends about 1/4 of an inch.

5. Find the middle of your straps, I just fold them and measure 1/2 inch from the fold to each side and then cut about 1/4 of an inch see the picture. This is the hole where we are going to put the strap through so it has to be roomy enough for the strap to fit.

6. Sew the 4 ends and the two top notches, after go ahead and put the right side facing each other and sew makes sure you don't sew the ends or the top where we made the hole, you should have something like this now:

7. Flip around and is ready to be used.

A little about my experience trying to do this. After 2 hours of several trial versions.

First one was too narrow
Second one was not long enough
Third one was the final product that is a gift for Bonnie

Okey so I got cocky and I made a double sided for me, after making 3 the 4th one took me only 15 minutes, and here I am showing my master piece.

This is my Samia's working area next to mami trying to do a strap for her imaginary camera.

Here is mami's working small uncomfortable I can not wait to move more space and my own working table for my sewing, projects etc. Inshallah soon!

ah Now you can sell these at Etsy.. I often find good stuff at Etsy like my computer bags, but now I feel everything is getting more expensive there...
