So I found some Pomegranates or romans like baba calls them..when it came time to cut them I decided I was going to use the nice pamphlet that came with them. I sat with that instruction booklet and though to myself WOW this is a bit complicated. I mean I was just going to open the fruit to make juice. After a little while I told baba "Can you believe this, a book to open a fruit" So he ask what are you trying to do when I gave him all the steps he look at me laugh and said let me show you the Egyptian way. Three Easy Steps to Get Inside Cut off the "crown", then score the outer layer of skin into sections. In a large bowl of water, break apart the sections along the score lines. Roll out the arils (the sweet juice sacs surrounding a tiny edible seed) with your fingers. The arils will sink to the bottom while the white membrane floats to the top. Strain out the water. The arils are ready to eat whole, seeds and all. |
Here is baba's way.

I love pomegranate, Opening however is a pain and a mess. But I do love that bowl of rubies!
LOL... I usually just take my time and eat em out of the fruit. Is nice to see how to get them out though. I should try that next time!
